A year ago, a home cold plunge was a novelty purchase for the extremely online. Now it's parked next to the grill in a noticeable number of backyards, and the secondhand market for used tubs has become its own small economy.
The physiological case is genuinely mixed — real evidence for mood and recovery benefits, thinner evidence for the more dramatic metabolic claims that got the trend viral in the first place. None of that has slowed adoption.
